Link Autism Leadership Courses
The Abyss of Autism Course (DVD - $25)
In this course, you will meet Sharon and Jimmy. Jimmy is a 16-year-old boy formally diagnosed with autism when he was 6 years old. At the age of 13 months Jimmy spoke two words and did not speak again until he was 3.
This course is based on the book, The Abyss of Autism, written by Sharon Link, Ph.D. and Jimmy Link. The book is written in a way that allows Jimmy’s voice to share his experience living with autism. The book is unique, because he is really able to share his anxieties, hopes, fears, and future hopes and dreams.
After taking this course, you will come away with an enriched understanding of the autistic experience from someone who has been diagnosed with the disorder and can share his thoughts in a meaningful and coherent way. I respond to Jimmy’s voice as both a mother and teacher.
We both provide helpful tips for managing bedtime, dentists, escalators, school, and other issues that Jimmy has faced while growing up. This course will be helpful for parents just beginning to struggle with the obstacles that autism presents. Notice…I said these were obstacles. With hard work, determination, and effort, obstacles can be overcome. For this course, you will need a copy of The Abyss of Autism book.
Additional courses are in various stages of development. We will be bringing them to you shortly.
