Former Washington educator Sharon Link, Ph.D. and native area resident Jimmy Link, her 16-year-old autistic son, will be signing the book they wrote together.

In The Abyss of Autism, Jimmy Link, a 16-year-old boy with Autism, and his mom, Dr. Sharon Link explore their experiences of living with autism. Intended for parents and educators, this book sheds light on different elements of Jimmy’s experiences as an autistic teen, and includes: his diagnosis, early intervention, school, fears, interests, and his future.  Sharon and Jimmy have been previously featured on local news sharing their experience.

Dr. Sharon responds to Jimmy’s words by sharing her experiences as his mom, advocate, educator, and Link Autism Leadership founder. She also provides insights and advice for parents and educators who are parenting or teaching autistic children. Anyone who has been impacted by autism should read this book.

Denise Nessel, Ph.D. author of Thinking Strategies for Student Achievement: Improving Learning Across the Curriculum, K-12 wrote: “This is really quite an interesting book. The alternating of Jimmy's voice with your voice is effective. His stories and his insights into his life are engaging and instructive. I feel as if I know him rather well even though I have never met him! And your perspectives and tips as a parent are bound to be useful to other parents. So congratulations on a job very well done!”

The book sells for $14.95 through the nonprofit that Dr. Link formed called Link Autism Leadership. All sales of the book are a direct tax deductible contribution to the nonprofit.  To learn more visit http://Linkautism.com.
