JoQueta Handy, M.S., CCC-SLP founded Speech & Motion, Inc in 1999. JoQueta developed the company around her passion for helping children to be successful learners, no matter their age or severity of delay. Prior to opening Speech & Motion, Inc., JoQueta managed a private practice in New York City, working with critical care infants with feeding problems. She also managed the pediatric outpatient and acute head trauma unit at Staten Island University Hospital in New York. She completed her clinical fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston University Hospital in Voice Science. JoQueta also worked in the Boston Public Schools. She earned a Master’s of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Boston University in 1991 and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tulsa in 1989, and has served on the research staff at Columbia University in New York City. In 2000, JoQueta earned her Doctor of Natural Medicine from the College of Health and Wellness in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In 2010, JoQueta started a second company called COB Community. COB, which stands for Children’s Opportunity for Brilliance, provides parents and educators with educational classroom experiences, practical learning tools and exercises for learning challenged children so they have opportunities to become all they were meant to be.
Through COB and her work in the community, JoQueta demonstrates her passion for implementing an educational solution for learning disabled children. Her goal in working with parents and teachers is to build an awareness to create change in the current special education process for today’s public schools, and home based education systems.
JoQueta Handy’s 19 year career as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and Naturopath, has given her a unique perspective on how to help children with learning challenges. She see’s their gifts and their capacity to prosper if given the opportunity. She has worked first hand with teachers and other professionals in the classroom, across the United States, in developing a system that works for all children no matter the level of severity.
She currently resides in Orange County, California with her husband and five children.
